Tenor Mandola (Standard body size)

Octave Mandola (Large body)

Tenor and Octave Mandolas

Two types here: the Tenor and Octave Mandola are variations around the standard Bouzouki, but have different scale lengths and can have different tunings to suit different styles of playing. The Tenor Mandola as standard has a scale length of 50cm and the Octave Mandola is 58cm and both have a well balanced sound with a crisp tone and strong resonant bass.

Each instrument can be built with the larger body size. This gives the instrument an even richer sound with a fuller and deeper bass tone.

As both of these instruments have shorter scale lengths than the Standard Bouzouki they are possibly more comfortable in the left hand with smaller stretches. They are both very versatile instruments too and are happy playing melody or rhythm.

Standard tuning:
Tenor Mandola - CGDA, GDAD, GDAE
Octave Mandola - GDAE, GDAD
